It’s a pleasure to meet you. I love meeting new people, and I like to say I’ve never known a stranger. As soon as I was old enough to speak, I conversed with everyone who crossed my path. “Have a nice day!” was my childhood mantra and revealed my Southern roots.
Welcome to my blog, The Belle Wall. By day, I work as an Accounting & Finance Recruiter for a firm in Raleigh, NC, and off-the-clock, I indulge my passion for writing and speaking. I’ve felt compelled to write from an early age and keynote speaking has always come naturally. A college mentor once told me that I had a good story to tell – and now having realized the story is much bigger than myself, I’ve created this blog as a vessel for inspiring others.
The story and the women behind our name
A few years ago, I went on an adventure to discover my family history on both sides. Diving into the pages of history revealed so much, and in particular gave me the heart behind The Belle Wall and its name.
- Belle comes from my maternal grandmother, Marjorie Belle King Stallings. A Southern, gentle spirit hailing from the high society of Richmond, VA who believed “pretty is as pretty does,” she passed away when I was only three.
- Wall comes from my paternal grandmother, Josephine Wall Wall. (No, that’s not a typo, she married a “Wall.”) She couldn’t be more different from Marjorie Belle – Josephine, born and raised within a 200-yard radius in rural Madison, NC, is stubborn as hell and proud of it. A product of her rural upbringing, she is the queen of local gossip and weather forecasts.
In the contrast of their stories, I find my own: I am both Belle and Wall; I am modern and timeless; I am old school vibes and new school ideas.
In a world of black and white, The Belle Wall is about celebrating the gradations in between – pieces that add up (or sometimes don’t) to make a fulfilled life. My sincere hope is that my mission of blending old and new, telling stories from the South, and sharing my take on life will inspire your story to become a part of the mix.
